With the offseason program complete and Rams Training Camp starting up on July 22, it's time to look ahead. As part of the preparation for training camp, theRams.com will be spotlighting a handful of players new to the Rams' roster. Continuing the series is defensive tacklePoona Ford.
How He Got Here:After becoming an unrestricted free agent, Ford signed a three-year deal with the Rams on March 13.
What's Next:Building chemistry with the rest of the defensive line and continuing to learn the defense. Ford is still learning the defense, but after spending last season with the Chargers, he's more than settled in to life in Los Angeles. The former undrafted free agent out of Texas is entering his eighth NFL season and is now a leader in the Rams' young defensive line unit.
Bet You Didn't Know:Ford is the shortest defensive lineman in the NFL at 5-foot-11, but has a 6-foot-8 wingspan (80 inches).
Quotable:"Poona Ford has been great, he runs to the ball, he's got the easy power, he gets off, he plays the run, he's probably a better (pass) rusher than we anticipated." Defensive coordinator Chris Shula on Ford on June 3
