Andy Ibanez, Akil Baddoo and Carson Kelly drove in two runs apiece and the host Detroit Tigers rolled to an 8-0 win over the Cleveland Guardians on Saturday afternoon.
Ibanez had three hits and scored twice. Retiring designated hitter Miguel Cabrera, in his second-to-last career game, went 1-for-4 while scoring a run and driving in another.
The Tigers (77-84), who clinched at least a tie for second place in the American League Central, used seven pitchers for their 15th shutout this season.
Beau Brieske (2-3), who pitched 2 1/3 innings, was credited with the victory.
Starting pitcher Triston McKenzie (0-3) gave up one run and three hits in 4 1/3 innings for the Guardians (76-85).
Cabrera scored the first run of the game. He led off the fourth with a double, moved to third on Kerry Carpenter's long flyout and scored on Matt Vierling's triple.
The Guardians got a threat going against Brieske in the sixth, as Jose Ramirez and Josh Naylor drew walks. After a popout, Tyler Holton replaced Brieske. Andres Gimenez hit into a fielder's choice and Brayan Rocchio did the same to leave the Guardians scoreless.
Detroit had two-out singles by Zack McKinstry and Ibanez against Eli Morgan during the bottom of the inning. Baddoo then ripped a triple down the right-field line to bring home both runners for a 3-0 advantage. Kelly flied out to end the inning.
The Tigers then put the game away in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Reliever James Karinchak misplayed a Parker Meadows popup. Meadows then stole second, advanced on a Torkelson flyout and scored on Cabrera's sacrifice fly. Karinchak then walked the bases loaded before he departed. Xzavion Curry replaced him and quickly gave up a two-run single to Ibanez.
A walk to Baddoo loaded the bases again and Kelly delivered a two-run single to make it 8-0.
