The Pittsburgh Pirates activated outfielder Ben Gamel and designated former All-Star Todd Frazier for assignment on Monday.
The Pirates claimed Gamel off waivers from the Cleveland Indians on Sunday and he will join the team for Monday night's game against the visiting Cincinnati Reds.
Gamel, 28, batted .071 (1-for-14) in 11 games with the Indians this season.
He is a career .259 hitter with 23 homers and 126 RBIs in 453 games with the New York Yankees (2016), Seattle Mariners (2016-18), Milwaukee Brewers (2019-20) and Cleveland.
Frazier, 35, made his season debut on April 22 and batted .086 (3-for-35) with four RBIs in 13 games with the Pirates.
The infielder was a two-time All-Star (2014, 2015) for the Cincinnati Reds and smacked a career-best 40 homers for the Chicago White Sox in 2016.
In 1,244 career games, he has hit .241 with 218 homers, 640 RBIs and 73 stolen bases with the Reds (2011-15), White Sox (2016-17), New York Yankees (2017), New York Mets (2018-20), Texas Rangers (2020) and Pirates.
